Temporary Traffic Restriction - Cranford Road

Aberdeen City Council have advised of the following Temporary Traffic Order.

The Order is in force from 08:00 on 15 March 2021 until 17:00 on 09 May 2021

The effect of the order is to suspend parking on North East side of Cranford Road, between Great Western Road and Duthie Place.

The no-waiting restrictions will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owner’s expense.

The restrictions are in the interests of public safety during ACC footway works.

Police Report - February 2021

This report is from our Community Policing Team and covers progress made in dealing with the Community Council area priorities during February 2021.

COVID 19 – UPDATE
Mainland Scotland and some islands remain in lockdown, with guidance to stay at home except for essential purposes.

These restrictions will remain in place until at least the beginning of March when they will be reviewed by the Scottish Government.

The following Link provides an easy read infographic on what can and cannot be done in the current lockdown.

Remember FACTS to help protect yourselves and others:

Officers continue to respond to reports of any breaches in the regulations using the 4E’s principle, namely Engage, Explain Encourage and Enforce as a last resort.

Locally Police received a couple of calls this month where one family were provided advice, with the other found to be following the guidelines.

Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder:

Over the past month we have continued the trend of very few calls in relation to anti-social behaviour. I attribute this to the colder days/nights and ongoing restrictions in addition to Police patrols and engagement. However it was disappointing to see that a further window has be smashed at the Aberdeenshire Cricket Club. This has occurred about 6pm on Wednesday 17th February. A male youth aged approximately 15 years wearing an orange and black puffer jacket was seen in the area and officers are keen to speak with this youth.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 101 quoting incident 2515 of the 17th February 2021.

Acquisitive Crime:
During the day on Wednesday 10th February, a vigilant member of the public contacted Police to report suspicious activity Anderson Drive near Seafield Road, namely a motorcycle being loaded into the back of a van. The vehicle description and vehicle registration mark were passed which allowed enquiries to establish that the motorcycle was not stolen.  This is another good example of the public to remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activity to Police.

Between December 2020 and February 2021 as set of Taylor made golf clubs were stolen from an insecure cupboard in the communal area of a block of flats on Great Western Road. Enquiries are ongoing and this is a reminder to keep your properties secure at all times.

Road Safety & Road Crime:
There were no incidents of note in relation to Road Safety and Road Crime.
We continue to work with partners in response to specific complaints in terms of road traffic offences and to make use of antisocial behaviour legislation. Residents in the areas affected by antisocial driving are encouraged to contact Police on 101 at the time, to report incidents and provide as much description as possible of the vehicle(s)/person(s) in order for us to take positive action.

CYBER SECURITY

What is cyber security? - Cyber security is the means by which individuals and organisations reduce the risk of being affected by cyber-crime. Cyber security's core function is to protect the devices we all use (smartphones, laptops, tablets and computers), and the services we access online - both at home and work - from theft or damage. It's also about preventing unauthorised access to the vast amounts of personal information we store on these devices, and online.

Cyber security is important because smartphones, computers and the internet are now such a fundamental part of modern life, that it's difficult to imagine how we'd function without them. From online banking and shopping, to email and social media, it's more important than ever to take steps that can prevent cyber criminals getting hold of our accounts, data, and devices.

There is a lot of helpful information on the National Cyber Security Centre website about staying safe online and covers the following topics

 Cyber Aware top tips
 Dealing with common cyber problems
 Protecting your data and devices
 How to report cyber crime
