Police Report - May 2023

This police report covers progress made in dealing with the policing priorities since the last community council meeting.

There have been very few incidents of crime in the Community Council area this month, which again highlights how safe an area it is to work and reside.

Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder: 
A flat within Thorngrove Place was damaged on the 5th of May. The property had paint thrown over the outside of it, covering the windows. House to house enquiries were carried out, but there were no witnesses.

Acquisitive Crime:

There were 2 reports of theft by shoplifting at the Co-op on Great Western Road, at the end of April both reported retrospectively by security after the event. On both occasions the male was described as wearing Blue Hooded top, dark trousers and dark trainers and simply entered picked up vodka and walked out. The male is obviously aware of the CCTV cameras as there is no clear image of his face obtained.

Road Safety & Road Crime:
In the early hours of the 2nd of May a white BMW car collided with a wall on South Anderson Drive and the driver made off. Several units attended and traced the driver a short distance away, where he provided a positive break test and was arrested.

On the 5th of May there was a two vehicle Collision on Countesswells Road. Whilst there was no injury the positioning of the vehicles caused the road to be blocked as one vehicle was undriveable. Police attended to deal with traffic management given that it’s on a bus route. One of the parties was charged with careless driving and has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Community Engagement & Reassurance

The CPT continue to deter drug use in the area. A male was stopped in the Mannofield area and when searched was found with a small amount of cannabis, he was charged with possession and allowed on his way.

Braeside School Site - Planning meeting postponed

The Planning application to build 30 homes on the site of Braeside School in Braeside Place was due to be before the Aberdeen City Council Development Management Committee at their meeting at the Town House Thursday 25th May 2023

That meeting has now been postponed until 10am on Thursday 1 June 

Should anyone wish to make representation to the Committee and speak at the meeting, applications for a deputation has to be made in writing (by letter or email) to Committee Services. You can email committeeservices@aberdeencity.gov.uk

Any request should be made as early as possible, but must be done to allow at least two clear working days (Monday to Friday) between receipt of the request and its submission to the Council or Committee.

You should state the subject on which you wish to be heard, and the action (if any) which you propose the Council / Committee should take.  Any documentation that you may wish to circulate to the Committee must be submitted along with your deputation request. Should the documentation not be submitted with the request, it will be for the Convener to determine if the document is circulated.

The Community Council will have a representative at the meeting.
