Temporary Traffic Lights - North Deeside Road

Between 9.30am on 28 February 2024 and 3.30pm on 05 March temporary traffic signals will be placed on North Deeside Road around 240m west of its junction with Northcote Road. 

These signals will operate during off peak hours to provide safe access to the underground network while works are carried out in the area. Any queries regarding this restriction can be directed to Sunbelt Rentals Traffic Management on 03700500792, or roadworkscoordination@aberdeencity.gov.uk

Police Report - February 2024

The latest Police report has just been delivered by the Local Policing Team:

"This report covers progress we have made in dealing with your priorities for the Braeside & Mannofield Community Council over the last month.

The report aims to highlight emerging issues in the area, and to provide crime prevention advice and guidance. Our focus is to reduce crime and disorder, help create safer communities and respond effectively to local concerns.

Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder:
Police continue to receive reports of anti-social behaviour regarding a resident of Thorngrove Court. We continue to work with Anti-Social Behaviour Unit of Aberdeen City Council and the relevant housing officer to come to a solution. I would encourage the residents effected to continue to call in, so that the incidents are logged, and we can highlight to the relevant partners.

A resident of Airyhall Avenue called and reported that overnight into the 29th of January two of his van tyres appeared to have been cut with a knife. The van was parked outside his property, and he can provide no reason why his vehicle would have been targeted.

On the 2nd of February reports of a group of youths causing a disturbance on the Cricket Pitch at the Cricket Club, officers attended and established that the youths were from a function within which had spilled outside. The licensee was made aware of the noise complaint and advised that they will try and keep people within so that the neighbouring residents aren’t affected.

Acquisitive Crime:

In the early hours of 23 January, a house was entered on Wellbrae Terrace, the thieves entering via an insecure back door, and took money and car keys for the car that was in the driveway. Several Police Units attended and made an extensive search of the area. The vehicle was later traced.

There was another theft of a vehicle on Gordon Road, in the early hours of the 24th of January. This was linked to the theft the previous day, and a number of similar crimes across the Westend and Hazlehead area. CID Proactive Unit took ownership and resulted in 2 males being arrested and held to appear at court.

On the 2nd and 5th of February officers were called to a report of a theft by shoplifting at Tesco. On the first occasion the male had been prevented from stealing by the staff, and was refusing to leave, on that occasion Officers assisted staff and removed him from the store. Three days later he returned and stole a quantity of food and alcohol. The male was easily identified and attempt to trace him have been  unsuccessful, however a case for an arrest warrant has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On the 7th of February, Police were requested to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue with a garage on fire on St Johns Terrace. Officers attended a and secured the scene. A joint fire investigation believed it to have been started wilfully. Enquiries were conducted and as a result a juvenile male has been reported to the Childrens Reporter.

Road Safety & Road Crime:
On the afternoon of the 28th January, CPT officers supported by Roads Policing Units attended a report of a collision between a car and a motorbike on Morningside Road. On arrival it was established that the severity of the collision was not as high as originally reported. Officers carried out the relevant procedures on both drivers and allowed them both on their way after being checked over by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Community Engagement & Reassurance
Police attended an incident on Hammerfield Avenue on the morning of the 16th February, whilst this resulted in a Policing presence for the following 24 hours. This was to allow an investigation to take place in a safe environment for the attending officers, and there was no risk to the wider community. As enquiries are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.

Would you like to know more about the support available from other women? Celebrate International Women’s Day with like-minded women to explore taking up space in politics and creating positive community change.

A collaborative event brought to you by Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council and Elect Her.

The event will have information stalls,  a series of workshops and panel discussions. By the end of the event, you will:

• Have stronger networks of support, including amongst a community of likeminded women at a similar stage of their political journey;
• Understand what different political roles are responsible for and the different ways current elected representatives have entered politics, learning from current politicians’ lived experience;
• Be able to ask a group of cross-party Councillors any questions you might have about putting yourself forward
• Understand what free support and resources Elect Her can provide you on your political journey.
