Leave a Light on

With the evenings becoming dark earlier it is important, if you are going out or going away, to leave a light on.

A dark house tells a housebreaker that there is no-one in and may just tempt him to break in.

Police Scotland carried out an evening operation recently and found a significant number of homes in total darkness. In these cases local officers left an advice leaflet for the house occupant.

Electrical timers are relatively cheap to buy and, when connected to lamp, will ensure that you always have a light in your house to deter the housebreaker.
