Police Report - January 2023

The latest Police report for our area. This report covers progress made in dealing with area priorities during January 2023:

"Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder:
There have been no reports of Violence or Disorder in the Community Council area, this month, and as I stress every month this is an exceptionally safe area to reside.

There have been reports of suspected drug dealing again in the Cranford Road area, and directed patrols are continuing, both high visibility and plain clothed. We encourage all residents to report any dealing they witness to the Police, as it’s only with intelligence that Police can be at the right place at the right time.

Acquisitive Crime:
A resident of Countesswells Road, attempted to buy tickets for the Aberdeen v Rangers game, on the 3rd of Jan. He replied to an advert on Marketplace. Once the funds were transferred the sellers mobile phone was turned off and FB profile no longer accessible. This again highlights the dangers of buying property from unknown and unregistered sellers.

A resident of the area was subject to an attempted sextortion. Where he was threatened that intimate images of himself would be distributed should he fail to pay a quantity of money. This type of incidents are surprisingly frequent across the city and I would encourage the residents of this area to be mindful what they post on both social media, or they send to private individuals.

On the 26th of January a resident received notification of a £250 purchase on her bank card. When she contacted the bank they advised that the transaction was on her “new” bank card that had been requested the previous week. The resident had made no such request and the card was stopped and the transaction refunded.  Enquiry are ongoing to identify the location of the transactions.

Road Safety & Road Crime:
On the 3rd of January Police received a report from a driver advising that he had received a note on his windscreen saying that he had hit a parked car when he parked earlier that day on Duthie Terrace. He looked at all the white vehicles around but could see no damage. He reported this to police to assist if there were any reports of damage to white cars. He was driving a black Audi, to date no one has come forward and advised they have suffered any damage.

Community Engagement &Reassurance

Whilst the above incidents gives you a flavour of what the Local Policing Team are doing in your area and focus on the Policing priorities, there are a number of sections which are not regularly shared. These cover personal incidents, where we are not at liberty to share these details. In the community council area this month there have been over 30 calls with around half being Concern Calls, Missing People or calls where members of the public are requiring assistance for incidents which have no criminality.

On these occasions we work closely with our partners in NHS Grampian and the Scottish Ambulance Service to provide support and reassurance and sign post the individual to the most appropriate service.
