Biodiversity recording - facebook page
Braeside and Mannofield Community Council have a Biodiversity Subgroup. The group was formed to collate information on the flora and fauna of our area, in particular the greenbelt land.
Our mission is to record and document the incredible biodiversity within our local area We are lucky to be surrounded by Greenbelt and a thriving Conservation Area and to ensure we continue to have these areas protected, we want to keep track of the wonderful diversity of wildlife and to be found here
Everyone in tie Community can be involved! We have created a Facebook page as a space for everyone to share sightings or local flora and fauna — from bats and bees to flowers and foxes please let us know what you have seen. The more detail you can include the better, and we'd love it if you could add photographs too!
There are two little phone apps that can help identify what you hear and see. Merlin will record bird song and will tell you what bird is making the call while taking a plant photo in Seek will check the internet and identify the plant for you
Your observations and sightings will help build a valuable record of the natural world around us and you will also be part of an exciting Citizen Science initiative.
We invite you to be a part of this journey to record, protect and appreciate the diversity of wildlife in our natural spaces in Braeside and Mannofield!
