Litter
At a recent meeting of the Community Council, the issue of litter was discussed. It is felt that the amount of litter being seen around our streets and other public areas is on the increase.
Litter is not only unsightly, it can also be dangerous, indeed recently a kitchen knife was found discarded in the street. Plastic bottles, food wrappers, drinks cups and packaging have all been seen blowing around our streets.
We are fortunate enough to live in a nice area that is, generally safe and environmentally aware, why, then is it being spoilt by some who do not have the common courtesy to take their litter with them and dispose of it in appropriate way, rather than dropping it in the open air.
The recycle bins at the rear of the library have been targeted by fly tippers in recent times, with old televisions and mattresses having been dumped for the council to collect.
PLEASE do your bit for our community. Take your litter home with you, encourage others to take theirs home with them, and let the council know if you spot a particular problem area.
