Notes from the Public Meeting - 28 July 2021
It was very apparent, from all present, that the decision by Bancon to sell the plot as a site suitable for house building was disappointing. The audience agreed that attempts should be made to dissuade Bancon from progressing with the sale and allow the ground to lie fallow for the benefit of the community, indeed, the Community Council had already written to the managing director in those terms. It was suggested that residents in the community with concerns should also write, independently, to Bancon suggesting the withdrawal from sale of the land.
Dependent on the response from Bancon, a press release expressing the Community's concerns would be considered.
In addition, one member at the meeting undertook to set up a group explore the possibility of a community buy out of the land to preserve the amenity.Should the land be sold and a planning application to build on it be submitted, the Community Council and the residents present, agreed that they would object, in the strongest possible terms, to the application.
The meeting noted that two previous applications to build on the land had been refused by the Council and that appeals to the Scottish Government had been dismissed.
