Aberdeen Journals Article on Braeside Place Development

On 27 December, the Press and Journal featured a "report" on the proposed development in Braeside Place.  The piece was entitled “Angry residents near the former Braeside Primary School claim the site is “no place for families in poverty”. The correspondent implied within the article that residents in the area were objecting to the building of "affordable housing" on the site of the old Braeside School.

The Community Council watched comments on social media, and listened to direct contact from residents before submitting an objection to the development.  At no time was there any indication that there were objections to the building of affordable housing.  

Objections were being made with regard to over development of the site, the proposed buildings being out of character with the surrounding area, safety of pedestrians and drivers, the pressures on community facilities such as the local schools, doctors and dentists for example and that the number of houses being planned should be reduced in number.

The Community Council have written to Aberdeen Journals claiming that the article headline and content is inflammatory and misleading.
