Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder:
On the 11th of February a taxi driver called Police requiring assistance with a very drunk male, who was in his taxi on Seafield Road, the male was drunk and aggressive and refusing to get out the taxi. Officers attended and assisted the taxi driver, the male was given a taxi home in the back of the police van and issued with a fixed penalty ticket, which was a lot more expensive than the taxi fare.
On the 21st of February, Police received a report of a group of 5 youths causing issues in the area of MacAulay Place. The 5 youths were ages between 13 and 15 and were knocking on doors and running away. When challenged by one of the residents they ran off. There was no damage. The only distinguishing feature was that 2 of them spoke with English accents.
Acquisitive Crime:
There was a break in to a garage on Springfield Road, on the 23rd of February, this is part of a number of them that occurred across the Westend area and are being dealt with by CID Proactive Unit. They are looking for 2 males who are seen in the area of several of them and would have been on a light coloured scooter. On this occasion the damage had been repaired prior to reporting and as such there were no forensic opportunities.
Road Safety & Road Crime:
Reports of vehicles travelling at excessive speed along Countesswells Road, continue to be an issue, and has been an issue. The CPT Officers that are trained in the use of the speed detection devices regularly go around various locations.
A stolen 125cc motorbike was recovered in Thorngrove Avenue at the start of February The bike was covered with a red tarpaulin in the car park and appears to have been dumped overnight on the 3rd, after being stolen a short time earlier in Rubislaw Square.
Roads Policing continue to patrol the CPT, and seize uninsured vehicles with several across the area this month.
