Stand Up To Falls is a collaboration between Volunteer Falls Ambassadors, Sport Aberdeen, ACHSCP and NHS Grampian. The team offer falls awareness across Aberdeen, through a popup stand with information, top tips, advice and signposting. Their falls awareness stand visits places like Aberdeen City Vaccination Centre, supermarkets and garden centres where there can be brief conversations with people to raise awareness of the things they can do to prevent a fall and to encourage them to think about a simple plan so they know what to do if they did have a fall.
Falls Ambassadors don’t need any specialist knowledge, they’re looking for people who;
- Enjoy meeting new people
- Have a positive and empathetic attitude
- Are happy speaking to others and sharing information
- Are available 4-6 times per year to volunteer
There is a drop-in session on Monday 9th September, 1-3pm at Get active @ Westburn and anyone interested is welcome to join the team for coffee, cake and a chat to find out more.
